Oriented by the professor Luiz Americo de Souza Munari, it studies the work of Saul Steinberg, with focus in the contributions of his work to the development of the modern cartoon and graphic arts. It tries to systematize the life and work of Steinberg (1914-1999), with emphasis in the transformations occured in his work, related to his whole production, to the historical context, and to the production of the graphic arts. His trip to Brazil in 1952 was also studied. Some significant informations were published in this research, as the first cover magazine of his carrier, created for the brazilian magazine Sombra in 1940/1941. Daniel received a valious help of the Steinberg Foundation and its executive director Sheila Schwartz during all these years of research and articles about Steinberg. The article Saul Steinberg and Brazil: his time in the country, publications and influence on Brazilians artists goes deep in the subject and talks also about the cartoonists Ziraldo, Jaguar, Millôr and others. The show will be held in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. He wrote with the curator Roberta Saraiva the chapter of 40 pages Diário de Viagem/ Journey Diary, one of attractions of the huge catalogue. The chapter presents his trip with Hedda Sterne to Brazil in 1952 to a solo exhibition in MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo. It shows several sketches of the visited places, postcards, tickets, photos, etc. The exhibition of 111 drawings (most of them coming from the Steinberg Foundation) will be launched in 28th may in the Centro Cultural do Instituto Moreira Salles, and then it will go to the Pinacoteca of São Paulo in September.
